PhD dissertation making real progress

Filed under: Network Simulation Cradle — sammydre @ 12:59 pm

Currently writing the introduction to my thesis. Once it’s done, I just need to write the conclusions chapter and I’ve written all the chapters to some level.

Obviously needs a bit of work yet, but it’s really getting there. Going to need to print it out and read over it for the first time before long. I think that first read through will be very important to figuring out what I’m missing. Once I’ve fixed it up enough for myself then comments from others will be a lot more useful! Starting the process of getting info to supervisor this week. Need to finish off my intro quickly…

Thanks to Perry for pointing out an interesting post to the e2e mailing list (which I am subscribed to but don’t often get around to reading):

“A Linux TCP implementation for NS2″ — makes the Linux TCP congestion control algorithms available in ns-2. Quite cool work.

Been working and not blogging still

I guess work must be fairly boring at the moment because there just isn’t much to blog about. Or, I’m too busy to blog. Or, I just forget to. Or,…

Anyway, large chunks of the literature review chapter of my PhD dissertation are getting done. The chapter is starting to look quite healthy now. It needs a lot of work yet, but it is definitely coming along. Hopefully have all the content there before long (this or next week depending how I go). Then it will need to be tidied up a bit before I can call it “first draft” level.

I just read over my wns2 paper. I think it looks ok, but the space restrictions really stop me from putting in a couple of bits of content I’d normally have. I currently dont have any related work section at all! I think the paper reads quite well in general and has some pretty pictures, so that is good. Just needs to be read over by someone else really, don’t think there is a whole lot more I can do for it myself.

Intel stuff seems to be going OK, I’ve getting a decent amount of work done there too.

Found out that IRLSim used real world code back in 2000. A hacked up BSD 4.4-lite. Neat.

And…
