Setup of emulation network
All hosts are P2 350Mhz hosts, with 64MB ram, and have 3Com 3c905 100Mbps full
duplex ethernet interfaces, and are connected card-to-card with CAT5.
The bold lines show the path taken by cross traffic that
is injected into the network to understand how resiliant ipmp_pathchar is
to it. I did 8 tests on the network with ipmp_pathchar, with varying levels
of cross traffic:
- no cross traffic
- 20Mbps UDP
- 40Mbps UDP
- 60Mbps UDP
- 80Mbps UDP
- 90.5Mbps UDP (commanded 90)
- 95.6Mbps UDP (commanded 95)
- 95.8Mbps UDP (commanded 100)
The following links show the serialisation estimates taken with IPMP on
each segment with varying levels of cross traffic at segment 1.
I guess it is encouraging that most of the effects of cross traffic are
confined to the rx and tx on segment 1. I need to do some work to account
for the time it takes for a packet to go up the stack at the end host, and the
time it takes to send a packet at the source.
