Setup Wizard
In the factory default configuration each RuralLink node configures its Ethernet interface to allow a client to connect via DHCP and configure the node. This configuration happens via the web interface. It is assumed that eventually a Windows application will take care of displaying the Web Interface to the user but currently you must manually find out our default gateway (using ip route under linux or route print in Windows) and paste that into your web browser. The setup wizard uses AJAX technologies to provide an interactive user experience without requiring the user to completely reload the page as shown in Figure 7.
The first screen presented to the user offers some short concise instructions about the setup process and provides the phone number for the RuralLink helpdesk.

Step two asks the user to set a name for the device. It is assumed that the user will choose something meaningful to them. Instructions are provided as shown in Figure 2.

Once the device name is configured the user is requested to enter the password for their network. This needs to be the same for all devices that are communicating with each other.

The fourth step can vary depending on whether you are configuring a master node or a client node. In the master node case the user is asked to select which type of ISP connection they are using and enter their authentication details. When configuring the client node a list of rural link access points that are within range are presented and the user is asked to select one to associate with. This step will not let the user pass until some sort of upstream connection has been successfully established. Figures 4 and 5 show what the user sees in each case.

Finally the user is presented with a screen informing them that the device has been successfully configured as shown in Figure 6. The device is now ready to go.
